I read on The Mexico-Consular Information Sheet that if i enter Mexico I can only take into the country a months supply of prescription drugs. Is this true. I plan on getting a 180 day visa and looking into retireing around the Lake Shapala area. I need to be able to take in at least a 6 month supple of drugs at a time as my insurance coverage here in the US is fantastic. Please help me! I happen to also need the drugs to live.

Roger,
Do not worry. I routinely take 6 month or more supply when I go to Mexico and have never had a problem. They are interested in guns and ammo. Also, you can buy most medicines (except for controlled drugs) in Mexico without a prescription. Miguel at Pharmacias Guadalarajara in Ajijic can help you find the medicine you might need.<p>Lloyd

Roger,

If you want to know if a medicine is available in Mexico, try this link. Some have different names here unlike in the United States, so if you need to know the Mexican name, just ask. I can also get you some pricing information.
