We found this handy before going to the doctor
to write in spanish and english the medical
condition to insure proper translation and avoid
miscomunication which could be very bad in
a medical situation.

While some/many Mexican doctors do not speak English well, if they went to a Mexican medical school they read English since they use US textbooks. If you say things slowly and/or write them out clearly, the doctor will probably understand the English.

So true! I remember my first encounter with a Mexican doctor (specialist) many, many years ago. I gave her reprints in English of the literature on my condition and was very surprised when she read them quite quickly and easily, even though we could only communicate poorly, as her spoken English was poor and my spoken Spanish was nearly nonexistent.

Thanks for posting the dictionary. I would love to find one that goes the other way -- Spanish to English.

I am happy that both my cardiologist and my ophthalmologist speak excellent English. My family doctor does not speak or understand spoken English, but he does read it, or at least he has USA medical journals in his office..

Not quite sure this is it but if you Google " Spanish english medical dictionary" you get all kinds of stuff.
Googles ability to answer questions is quite amazing and I bet if this is not what you want Rolly you can
find it. I admit the above site is a little bit confusing but it does say English spanish, spanish english
medical dictionary.

Hi, Rolly and all-
When you go to the dictionary website you can choose English to Spanish or Spanish to English. The green box on the right side lets you do this. Give it a try -it's really a great service!
