I would assume that you have a "temporary paper plate" that is displayed in the rear window. While we have never ventured into Mexico with such, I have observed many many vehicles heading south with temp plates from New Mexico and Texas - those being purchased in the U.S. for importation into Mexico. Since the States in Mexico typically issue both a front and rear plate, you may draw some interest from various police agencies but as long as your paperwork is in order, I would guess that you would not experience any real problems. Here in New Mexico, we are only issued a rear plate and a couple of years ago, we added a front souvenir plate to minimize curiosity by the police. Seems to have worked since we have never been stopped for any reason. Regards, Neil Albuquerque, NM
