Steve Cross and Fernando Gomez Alvarez are offering to serve Christmas dinner to the needy seniors living at Chapala's Casa de Ancianos on December 24.

"It broke our hearts when we read the article in the Reporter last week (GR Nov. 28, page 13)," said Cross. The two owners of Casa de las Flores B&B in Ajijic went to the home last Sunday to donate perishable food and found that a 90-year-old woman had been left on the door step with a note asking the home to take care of her. That's when they decided to do something special.

"We don't want to skimp on this dinner," said Cross. But he added they do need some help to cook it. If you want to volunteer to help cook on December 24, please call Cross or Gomez at (376)766-5493. They are also collecting non-perishable foods, slippers, warm shalls and other things that the seniors living at the home need. Someone to help wrap gifts for the ancianos and needy children at some Lakeside homes is also needed, said Cross.
