The name for molasses in Spanish is melaza. It is extremely hard, if not impossible to find in México. My wife could never find any in México City or here in Cuernavaca. México City is her hometown and she looked everywhere there. She finally had her brother bring some down on one of his trips from Tacoma. You may get lucky, but don't get too frustrated, know the chances of finding any in central México are slim. The folks over in The Lake Chapala area are lucky, they may be able to find, or order some from the Superlake grocery store, which just happens to be the greatest grocery store in all of México.
