Blending a Mango...

Can't Post | Private Reply

I have eaten mangos all my life, but have never blended one. Anybody here done it and was it successful. I would like to throw one into my banana-vanilla protein shakes.

Do you use raw egg for the protein.

No. I use a powdered whey protein. It's a high quality whey that goes by the brand Unjury.

Cut the mango into chunks. Put whatever liquid you use (water? milk? vodka?) in the blender first. Add some of the mango chunks, then the whey powder, and then the rest of the mango chunks. Be sure to add ingredients in that order. It should come out just fine.

Owner of mango tree here. Father in law had 8 hectares on the Jalisco coast and my wife has consumed mangos in all imaginable forms all her life.

If your blender has sharp blades you can blend mango with a minimum of liquid if you want a puree, more liquid if you are making a liquado etc. Helps a lot if you remove the pit first!

Orange-Mango-Strawberry Protein Shake

Experiment done. Here's what I did:

1. Peeled and sliced the mango. Then cross cut the slices so they were like chunks.
2. Blended them with orange juice.
3. Then added strawberry flavored protein powder and blended again.

It was a pretty good smoothie. This is my dinner for the evening. I did taste the orange juice and mango blend before adding the protein powder. The orange juice did not overpower the mango flavor, though I was suspicious that it would.

I will try the blend again on another day with just water instead of the orange juice.
