lemon Tree

Hello, we'll be driving south to our winter home in Oaxaca first of November and we're hoping to find a nursery along the way where we can purchase a lemon tree. Lemon and not lime. It doesn't sound like a difficult request but then again, this is Mexico.
If anyone out there might be able to point us in the right direction, please let us know.

Good luck. We found a lemon tree at Exotica in Ajijic but the plant is not doing well. If you give them the Latin name they will tell you if they can get that variety or not. I was looking for the variety they grow in the Middle East, small very thin and smooth skin but I ended up with something else.

I have yet to see lemons in Oaxaca so good luck.

Hey Hound Dog, I read your post on the other forum, thanks for all the info.
It's going to be a tough find, I know. And we really don't miss them all that much but if we could, we'd like to have a tree for our yard. I'll keep looking and should I find any, I'll let all of you know.

I have seen a citrus tree here in Mazatlán that had fruit about the size of a navel orange, very rough, green skin about as thick (or even slightly thicker) than a grapefruit. The fruit looks nothing at all like a lemon, but the inside is yellow and is absolutely a lemon. Right flavor, right smell, right amount of juice, just perfect. The only thing you could definitly not use it for would be a recipe that called for the finely grated skin of a lemon (senior moment, can't remember what that's called).

I have absolutely no idea about the name of the tree, either common or latin, so that's not much help. Lots and lots of fruit twice a year though. So much that the branches have to be propped up. The tree I saw wasn't propped up one season and the weight of the fruit split the trunk causing the tree to eventually die. I haven't seen another recently.

There's a tree something like that, in a pueblo near us Tzintzuntzan, Michoacán). However, the fruits are about the size of small to medium grapefruits. Very thick peel, less pulp. The aroma is distinctive, but in the end, it's a lemon.
