Does anyone know the current retirement income requirement for an FM-3(NY Consulate)? If your retirement income falls short of this requirement, is there any way of artificially jacking it up? Thanyou.

To tell someone how to "artificially" jack it up would be breaking the law on both sides. You might try going to Mexico where the income requirements are sometimes less than the consulates in the US. It all varies from place to place. Do more homework but do the paperwork legally and you'll not have to worry about getting caught.

The monthly income requirement is a minimum of 250 times the minimum wage in the Federal District. The minimum wage changes each year, and exchange rates are constantly changing. Bear in mind the operative word "minimum," which means that the Instituto Nacional de Migracion (and the Consulates) can establish a higher figure.

That doesn't mean it would have to be illegal. Lawyers use loopholes all the time to circumvent laws in a very legal way. Ethical? Just ask George W.: To tell someone how to "artificially" jack it up would be breaking the law on both sides. Rather than having monthly income, can you show your bank statement with a "good" balance of money?

Our Lloyd statements showing regular monthly deposits in excess of the minimum required sufficed.I much preferred it that way (to use our Lloyd statements), since we didn't want to show any U.S. documents (tax returns, etc.): Rather than having monthly income, can you show your bank statement with a "good" balance of money?
