Junking a NOB plated car; FIRST HAND EXPERIENCE.

This was hard for me to believe but it happened; I'll make is quick. My NOB plated car died and I wanted to get rid of it; won't run. Had a Spanish speaker call Aduana after getting various methods from others. First person said car must be taken to the border (trucked if not drivable); more discussion and alternative was to give it to the government, if it wanted it; process takes four months; no other way. Who wants a car with destroyed engine; bad tranny; shot radiator? Forget the junk yard; they will take it but you are still on the compter. I don't like the answer: "May I please speak with a Supervisor?" Same story from Supervisor. The car is now being taken apart piece by piece and the frame will be cut into half dozen pieces; guy I gave it to (trusted mechanic) is doing it and I watch it happening. I kept my NOB plates and sticker. I know, I can't ever bring in another NOB car and that's OK since I don't intend to. Oh yes, before giving up the ghost, I called Mago's office; was told they would check w/their attorney; I said "Forget the attorney, check with Aduana." She said she would and would call me later that day or the next day, at the latest." I gave her my home and cell numbers and she repeated them back to me. A week later and I'm still waiting. Finally and again: This is a first-hand experience; not hearsay. Esta es Mexico.
