RV in Mexico

We are moving from Ontario to the Lake Chapala area in November. We are planning to tow a small (around22') travel trailer as we will be travelling with our dogs and figure that will avoid any problems with hotels that don't accept pets. We will cross the border either at Laredo or Columbia. Does anyone know of any safe camp grounds between these points and Ajijic?

Hi. You might go to the RV.Net forum on Mexico and ask there since the folks there are focused on RV'ing in Mexico. Sure someone will have an answer LINK

There is a motel with 20+ RV sites available in Matehuala that RV'ers use. It is at the Las Palmas Midway Inn, on the east side of Hiway 57 just a little north of Matehuala (about .5 miles south of Km marker 4). The RV sites have their own restrooms w/hot showers. The motel has a restaurant, pool and mini-golf. English is spoken at the front desk.

The previous advice about Matehuala is correct. But if you don't make it all the way on the first day, there is also a campground in Saltillo, at IKmperial del Norte on the NE side of town. I stay in the hotel frequently. The RV park is a little rough, but it will be okay.

As far as your pets, most hotels (including Las Palmas in Matehuala - Fluffy and I were refused a room there once) SAY they don't accept them, but if they are small and quiet, you can jus sneak them in or talk to a manager, not a front desk clerk. But ALL RV parks (including Las Palmas) accept them.
