Does anyone have an update on the cuota along MX Hwy 15 especially south of Mazatlan? We will be driving south in October and would like to know what progress has been made. Thanks!

We last travelled this route in April. There is one small section of about 5 miles or so that is still the old road, south of Mazatlan. The new road is ready right alongside this section but they are missing some crossing bridges at the moment.
The rest of the trip between Villa Union just outside Mazatlan and the San Blas turnoff is new one lane cuota - it makes the trip so much easier.

Thanks for your reply, bournemouth. I'm hoping that even more progress has been made on the cuota since your experience in April.

the toll road on the hwy 15 going south of mazatlan still has a very small strech to be finished but its perfect, it really cuts the travel time. do watch your speed since highway patrol is very active in the zone between tecuala/novillero exit and tepic. if you are traveling to GDL and your passing the toll booth at santa maria del oro before 2pm, do take the time to go have lunch at santa maria del oro.... its a 5 minute drive to the town and another 10 minutes down the mountain to the lake........ most of the places are really busy but if you look for the lagoescondido boutique hotel sign and la selva restaurant on the left side on a dirt road.. la selva is on a point and they serve the classic chicharon de pescado/ breaded shrimp... at the same time you can go next door to the lagoescondido boutique hotel and get info to stay there on a future weekend getaway.
