Re: [topazio] Questions about Queretaro

Hi topazio, While I don't currently live in Queretaro, I visit there very often. My wife is from Jalpan (up north) and I am a USC. We have a place in Queretaro (the city). I like it alot, clean and well run and historic. Always have felt safe and never yet had a bad experience there. Living expenses are not all that high. We figured that we could live pretty comfortable on 1200 USD per month (our house is paid off). There are English teaching schools in town and there are English elementry and middle schools as well. Not sure about high schools. I am unsure of the quality. I happened to see the "Washington School" around 57 and Bernado Quintana. My wife pointed out that this was an English speaking school. Queretaro has a growing international airport. I just left a few weeks ago and they have been building on to the airport as well as construction in that area has gone way up. Bombidier is located there now for a few years. A number of other multinationals too. Continental from Houston as well as other domestic airlines going to and from Monteray and DF. Not too many USC that I can see. Sometimes see one at the Home Deport or WalMart or in Tequis or Bernal - a couple of nearby towns. For sure in San Miguel de Allende there is an expat community - about an hour away. Until 4-5 years ago, my view of Mexico was that of the border city. Queretaro and the surrounding states have opened my eyes. Nice place for sure. We plan to stay there more full time some day. Scott
