Hi Tony, yes you are quite right there are many small and nice places to live in the state of Queretaro especially San Joaquin. My kids have been to summer camps in that area. The Queretaro government is/was/trying to invest money in the tourist industry. That area attracts many european tourists. That whole sierra gorda area, los Misiones, is a place well worth visiting especially for people interested in birds, history and hiking. It would also be great to learn spanish and do social work. The area is inexpensive to live but many mexicans in the area are poor. However they are positive people. It gets really cold in winter. So I prefer Ajijic.
