Dirty grout, tile

Can't Post |
The grout in the bathrooms and kitchen of our rental is very discolored. The tile needs a serious cleaning. What should we use to do the job?
Many thanks in advance for your help.

From Consumer Reports. Rated to work better (and much cheaper!) than most commercial window and kitchen sprays. Alcohol is the secret ingredient, and what commercial window washers use. Safe on most but not * all * household surfaces.
TILE AND GROUT CLEANER
*1/2 cup baking soda
*1/3 cup household ammonia
*1/4 cup white vinegar
*7 cups warm water

: since there was no alcohol in that recipes
I use an sos pad and vinegar. After you get it clean wipe it with kerosene and the soap and lime deposits just slide off. You can always paint the grout with matte latex paint if you can't get it clean.
