My hubby and I will be vactioning in Puerto for 3 months and would like to rent something for about $1000.00 total , canadian . We know of folks who said that rented entire furnished homes for 300$ a month. Is that still possible and where could I look for more info.

Puerto what? Vallarta, Escondido, etc.

Hello pusscat,

Puerto is certainly NOT San Andés de Puerto Madero, Municipio de Villa de Cos, Zacatecas. The one secondary school has between 8 and 10 pupils. It's 5 km by dirt road from the nearest paved highway and it's 25 km from the nearest taquería.

However, I guess you mean Puerto Vallarta. In that case make a search for Puerto Vallarta and look for the various websites advertising lodging for rent.

Good luck since my impression of Puerto Vallarta is that at the price you mention about the only rentals will be in Old Town and they are not usually advertised on the net. Too, most of us gringos living in Puerto Vallarta are living in rather expensive complexes so you probably won't find many of us with knowledge of the rentals you want.

Whatever Puerto .... you only find deals like that when you lived there awhile. Maybe housesitting over the summer but for winter rates you're not quite half way there in price

Low prices are not found on the internet. If you go there and look OUT OF TOWN, i.e. a bus ride away, you can find much cheaper places.

Good advice here - the best deals are found walking/driving through the neighborhoods. Look for signs in windows and on light poles as well as small grocery store bulletin boards. Talk to people in the neighborhood to see what they know as many are handled via word of mouth and are never advertised.

A local cell phone is a great help. If you don't speak Spanish it will pay to have a local translator with you.

You want to housesit. Google "housesitting in mexico" and take your pick. All kinds of opportunities on both coasts in the summer. The same properties rent for astronomical prices from November til May....
