You mean the clear, sweet stuff or the thick, goopy white stuff?

Where are you located?

Around here (Pátzcuaro), even though we are not in coconut palm growing country, "cocos fríos" are popular as a drink. They hack open a coco to your order.

Personally, I don't care for it. Tases like faintly sour, soapy water.

Anonimo, I found this while looking for info about coconut milk:
Coconut milk is not, as many would believe, the liquid water inside of a coconut. Instead, it is the milky substance pressed out of a soft, freshly picked coconut.

Sioux, you are 100% correct.

Coconut cream is another product, very sweet and thick. Coconut milk is yet another product, less thick and much less sweet. There's just one brand of coconut milk, as far as I know, and it's usually available in supermarkets in Mexico. I'm in California at the moment or I could tell you the brand: there's a can of it in my pantry. If it will wait till I get home on the 7th, I'll gladly post here.

Coconut milk (unsweetened and used in Indian, Thai and other Asian food), is available in cans in Mazatlán, so it should be everywhere! (This ain't no gourmet paradise). In my cupboard I have a 3-pack that I got at Sam's, but I have seen it in Mega and Soriana, too.

Thanks all...I've looked in all the major stores in the lakeside-guad area and I'll look again...no, it's not the sugary creamy stuff or the clear watery juice of the coconut. A little further search has shown me how to make it by steeping fresh coconut meat in hot water. So, if I can't find it canned, I'll make it myself...Gotta have some green Thai curry!

I am not sure where you are, but here in Mexico City you can usually buy it in the local Superamas. And it is always available in the Asian markets here - the Thai or Vietnamese brands.

Did you get your coconut milk? And you are going to make green thai curry? Where did you find the curry? Are you just using the curry powder or do you know of a place that has fresh or dry leaves or paste? I would be greatly appreciative to know! I am in the D.F. thanks :)
