Running a vehicle number plate check in Jalisco

Has anyone come across a government website that allows you to run checks on vehicle number-plates (to check for unpaid 'tenencia' and/or unpaid fines)? I'm just started looking for a second-hand car to buy, and I've heard there is something out there that allows people to print off reports, online. Any ideas?

I don't know if such a site is available to the public, but go to your nearest Recaudadora office. That is the office in our town where one gets their auto licenses and pays traffic fines.
Maybe they can let you know if such a site exists for the public or if they can get that info for you.

You need to ask the seller for all of their tenencia payment receipts. If they don't have them or refuse to provide them, the tenencia is unpaid and it could be for a number of years.

You need to ask the seller for all of their tenencia payment receipts. If they don't have them or refuse to provide them, the tenencia is unpaid and it could be for a number of years.

Just last year, I made the mistake of buying a second-hand scooter (at a tianguis, so I got what I deserved) without receipts, only to discover that there were 3 yrs worth of unpaid tenencia. It still hurts thinking about it!
