Is it possible to get prices for large construction equipment rentals in the Baja area? If so, could I retrieve those prices on the internet?

I would ask why do you want to be a do-it-your-selfer when labor is cheap and the locals need the work. I'm not sure there would be any rentals without the owner as the driver. Anything like backhoe work can be done by hand and most often is unless it's a large project.

============================================<p>Can't speak for Baja, but in the Guadalajara area, we had an opportunity to directly compare the alternative of using mechanized equipment vs. manual earth removal. The project was a small one, done in two stages. The cost to dig and remove the earth manually was about 1/2 what we were charged for the skip loader (both used dump trucks to haul away the earth. The added benefit to the area was that, as Loco says, we provided more money directly to the trabajandos by using manual labor. If you're contemplating a large job, the economics (to you) may be different. Suggest you bid it both ways and see what happens.
