I am getting conflicting information as to what should be paid to workers in terms of legal benefits.
What exactly are we talking about when it comes to Social Security, the Mexican equivalent to US Workers Comp and Infonavit?
Are the amounts paid according to how much the worker earns in a week, month or quarter?
Thanks in Advance,
Esteban

It's based upon weekly wages. Go to the office and they'll give you the paperwork to fill out for each worker -- SS number, wages, etc. When a man leaves the job, there is another form to fill out to get him off your list. You only have to make a filing when there is a change; it’s not like in the US where you have to report regularly.
In my town, the bill is hand delivered to my home. I pay some of the fees monthly -- the SS part, and some of it quarterly -- the housing part.
I don't know all the details because my Mexican partner takes care of the business end of our project.

That's sort of the same thing I've done. Someone else has always taken care of the situation but then there have been some discrepencies and questions lately, that I'd like to know about. I've always felt in the dark about these things and feel a bit insecure not knowing the law. I certainly don't want to have problems down the line.
Thanks for the input Rolly.
Esteban

Another question on Seguro de Social

Another thing I was wondering about this system is whether or not the social security part of the payment includes IMSS insurance for the whole family of the worker or if it is only paid into a retirement account of some kind. Also, if the amount paid covered an accident if it happens on the job.
