I asked this question on the chapala.com forum and haven't gotten any real helpful responses, so thought I'd try it here:
I live near Puerto Vallarta and am hoping one of you living closer to Guadalajara can help me.
Here, you always hear "you can buy (insert item you are seeking) for waaay less in Guadalajara."
People say there are different areas of town for instance if you are seeking auto parts, or floor tile, or furniture, or shoes.
My question is - Is there any type of written guide to Guadalajara shopping? Either on-line or a book one could buy.
I know that the tianguis in Tonala is a great source for "decor" and accessories.
Any specific recommendations for furniture - a nicely made rustico type?
Also, what area would one buy ceramic tile? Talevera pottery?
I am asking on behalf of a friend who will probably want to take the bus up to GDL, and spend a maximum of 2 nights there. We might possibly decide to drive to GDL so we can haul more stuff back.
Just looking around, asking people locally for recommendations might be fun if we were closer to GDL and had more time but I am trying to cut down on her "searching time."
Thanks for your help.
