We live Lakeside and have 3 Bosch calentadores de paso ... the problem locally with the Bosch is spider webs. The solution is to use your computer compressed air cleaner periodically to air spray away the webs and little critters which gather here. No problems. Our tankless water heaters cut our propane use in half and paid for themselves within a year.

There are a few things you need to consider when installing a tankless water heater:

1) Pressure. If you have low pressure at the inlet or are using a tenaco for pressure the heater may not kick on when you open a faucet. If this is the case you will need a booster pump or a pressure pump and pressure tank.
2) Lime. The coils on a tankless heater can be ruined quickly if you have very alkalyne water. A lot of cities that get their water from wells have alkalyne water. In this case you might need a water softener.
3) Plumbing. Many houses in Mexico run the hot water lines through the concrete floor or brick walls. If your hot water line runs through 30 feet of copper line burried in concrete, it doesn't matter how hot the water is coming out of the water heater. You are goiing to have to heat up a lot of concrete before you get hot water at the tap. A device like the 'chilli pepper' can help with this situation (http://www.chilipepperapp.com/).

The solution is simple. Insulate your hot water pipes. Don't ask me where my architect got it, but he said it was readily available. That's what I did in my new house, that I moved into yesterday.
