I have been in the US for several months. We had to move here for health reasons. My wife's eyesight has deteriorated a great deal and walking the cobblestones blind does not appeal to her - also, she has a new great grandchild that she wants to be near. Further, my cancer and other ailments have reached a point that I need to have access to Medicare. I'm still a big fan of Mexican medicine, but a bigger fan of Medicare now that I have large expenses. I have not been posting because I have nothing of interest to say about Mexico from here. However, I do keep in touch with several on the board and wish you all a happy holiday season - especially hope that you had a good Christmas. We very much miss the Christmas season in Ajijic. Now to my cry for help. Our renter - We sold the house, but are still renting it out. Don't ask. - has a problem with the satellite receiver for Dishnet. The one he was using was defective and he had another delivered. Of course, Dishnet believes that our service is at my brother's house in Manhatten. Therefore, they sent it to him. He sent it to me and I'm trying to get it to Ajijic without the $160+ Fedex charges and the other charges involved. If anyone is going through CA on the way to Lakeside and has room, I'd appreciate it if they would deliver the receiver to Ajijic. I can meet the person anywhere in SoCal and/or will be glad to exchange a night's lodging and/or a meal for the service. I can also send it to anyone in the US who would be willing to receive it and take it to Ajijic with them. You can reach me by posting a private message, calling (760) 639 1776 in CA, or by my email address rlym9@aol.com. I forget our Ajijic phone number, but will get it and post it in a later comment below. We can be reached through the renter in Ajijic. Another cry for help - If anyone needs a house sitter at anytime for a week or more, I am available. I'm an excellent animal sitter and garden care person - especially if you have a gardener. Also, I have enough contacts and knowledge to take care of any problems that might arise while you are gone. We miss Ajijic and would like to visit. House sitting would give us a big incentive to return for such a visit.
