Sorry folks, we're going to a little late this week...

My web host is having technical problems. We can view my web site, but I can't make an upload. So this week's update, which is all about building and installing windows, will have to come when they get their act together at Digitronics.
Stay tuned.
Rolly

: Why didn't you use aluminium for the window frames? Won't the metal rust and rattle?
: In honor of Mexican Independence Day on 16 Sep, we put a flag on top of the house.
: This week we got started on windows. Coco is building them and Iniz is installing them.
: Rollybrook.com
: or click below

Steel vs alumium window frames

Can't Post |
: : Why didn't you use aluminum for the window frames? Won't the metal rust and rattle?
Yes, steel will rust if it is not properly painted and cared for. But taking care of it is no big deal.
Aluminum widows are much more expensive. Especially when you consider that we can buy the steel material wholesale and Coco can make the windows without any labor cost – that’s his business.
I have seen aluminum used in the new government sponsored track homes, but the steel window is still the rule in this area.
As for rattles, it is not a problem in my house or any other house I am familiar with. The only rattle problem I have (outside of my head) is the metal outside door when the rough-housing dogs bang against it. :-)

all casement style windows were steel. hot clima, bulletproof, wide opening lock tight. grew up with this stuff, that was already 40 years old. we never had a new house.duh. if you wanna know about realworld steel mexstyle vs alum go ask the people in s. baja who got hurricane whacked last year. quote- "i wish id never let them b-ds talk me into this flimsy aluminum s--t and used steel like the locals". wet homeowner. you build a house so it can be HOSED OUT! this aint beverlyhills. buena suerte
