Looking for a group that helps people familiarize us with the Cancun Area

Can't Post | Private Reply
We are going to be in the Cancun area December 13-28, my husband is applying for a job working for the Grand Mayan. We are looking for a group that I once found on-line and can not find them again. This group is not for profit and excepts tips for helping. If anyone knows where I can find this group please let me know. Thanks Michelle

Perhaps a little more detail would help.

"This group is not for profit and excepts tips for helping." Helping with what? Where are they based? etc?

I think they call themselves ex-patriots, they help you get familiar with getting housing and things like that. They also help you to find the local places outside of the tourist areas. The company my husband is applying with will help him get an FM3, so we are good on that. Thanks for trying to help, it is very much appreciated.

Does Mexpats sound right?
http://www.mexpat.com/

Their site lists only DF, Guadalajara, Monterrey and Toronto, but I know they're in Oaxaca and I heard they're in Playa del Carmen. You might contact their Mexico City person. Most of us are professional people of all nationalities. The networking is great.

Suerte!

EXPATRIATES, please. Even the Bush years didn't turn most of us into ex-patriots. :-)

Try the bulletin board at Cancun Cares. Also, I notice that Jim in Cancun is a moderator on this board and I'm sure he would know.

Thanks! I they said on their site that it did not mean they did not like the USA. I will look at Jim's and check out your suggestion. Thanks again for your time.

Thanks to all, I was also wondering if anyone knows that if my husband is working and I am not, will I be able to get a visa to live there? I could work, but if my husband is making enough for us to live on, I may not have to. I would probably want to voluteer or end up getting job though since I can't seem to sit still!

You can get an FM-3 if you and your husband have enough income. You don't have to work. Rolly's site I'm sure gives you income details.
