Concrete Sink/Countertops

I'm in the process of having a condo built in Mexico City and would like concrete countertops/sinks in the kitchen and bath. Does anyone know who I can contact that would have experience in this process. Thanks.

These are so common that I would expect any mason would be able to do the work. I have seen lots of concrete counter tops both with and without tile. I have also seen concrete sinks, but I don't like them at all. Have you looked at and used a concrete sink? A number of my friends in Manzanillo have them, and I have lived in an apartment with such a sink. They are just not my kind of thing.

I doubt that Rick is referring to the typical "colado de concreto" countertop that never gets tiled. Check out the link below to see something you may not have seen a lot of. These can be really beautiful.<p>: These are so common that I would expect any mason would be able to do the work. I have seen lots of concrete counter tops both with and without tile. You're right, I have never seen concrete work like this. Thanks for the link. I ordered the book. Who knows, maybe I'm a convert.

I would really like to see the concrete sink/countertops you are referring to and that Rolly enjoyed. We are remodeling a small beach house and this is the time! Tore out old sink, counter, breakfast bar. But somehow I can't find the link. Help! and thank you!

Hi Sherrill,

I now realize that the three links I listed do not include the one you wanted. I have done some searching and have come up with the link.

Enjoy!

The URL in my previous post takes you to a publisher’s website for the book Concrete Countertops with some tantalizing excerpt photos. I just received my copy of the book. I am impressed with the handsome countertops that can be made following this how-to-do-it book. I am also impressed with how damn hard it looks! I have grave misgivings about this as an amateur do-it-yourself project.

My construction project buddy, who is an expert tile man, read the book this afternoon and concluded that maybe we should stick with tile on our project.

We might decide to do a test piece. Stay tuned.

Here's the link I had posted before, I guess they all disappeared with the changes to the forum. If you can find a copy of the August/Sept. 1994 Fine Homebuilding magazine it goes into more depth on the subject.
