When I told my hubby
(from Guanajuato) about
the thread on pollada
(which I had never heard
before) hre is his response.He sez it is the same as
a tardeada - namely an
AFTERNOON function where
young senoritas are allowed
to attend.There might be food, but
always music and soft-type
beverages. He died laughing
(no offense intended toward
anyone here) about the eating
chicken part....heck, it had
sounded logical to me, similar
to a tamalada, I guessed.It is a slang term with two
significados: it ends early,
about 6 opr 7 pm, therefore
is related to "going to bed
with the chickens" and also,
according to "O He Who Was
A Teen in the Hippie era
Late " sez it also refers
as to the young chick attendees,
known in young male mexican
slang as "pollas".I guess that makes the guys
chicken hawks?
