Hi all,What does it mean when a spanish person says "oh yeah" on the phone?The spelling is incorrect but it sounds like it though. It is almost always followed by them making some statement.How is it written and what does it mean?Thanks

Just a guess here, but possibly "Oye", the familiar imperative of "oir" - in effect suggesting that you should hear what is to follow?

It is a simple substitute of calling someone by name, in other words if I say "Oye ... Dime una cosa .." it means "Jacques, tell me one thing...". But the real meaning is "Heed..." or "Listen" as a way to catch someone's attention.
