This story is on the front page of Mexconnect, in the new section, at this moment:

I had noticed that our local post office has been sporting a lively new paint job in recent days - I'll have to check on the idea of coffee mugs and envelopes in lime green and shocking pink!

I almost fell down laughing when I read the article on Yahoo News. Last November we received a foot thick pile of 2 year old mail the prior postmaster just never bothered to put in our post office box.

And yet some of us are quite convinced that the postal service here is a good one!

Our service here in Sayula, Jalisco is excellent. We have service to our door. If the mailman see us in another part of town, he stops us and gives us our mail. If he knows we are friends to other people in town and he can't find them home, over a period of time, to deliver special mail, he will ask us about them not being home and even leave it with us, if we agree. In the last 8 years I know of no mail not being delivered. Some of our mail might be a little late, but that problem is with the post office service outside our town. Whom ever oversees the mail service in our town, does an excellent job.

What tickles me most is that the post office used to be known as Correos de México and then was switched to SEPOMEX. Cue up the music...everything old is new again!

It depends on where you live. Our village has no postal service. If mail is sent to our street address sometimes it goes to an abarrotes store in the village center and is put in a cardboard box for anyone to rummage through. After a while it is thrown out. Problem is, it isn't always the same shop that it's sent to. Interesting.

I have an Ajijic post office box and for the past 3 months or so, my U.S. mail has been arriving in 6-8 days including a box of books that I mailed to myself from New Mexico.

Oh, I have a Jocotepec post office box too. But the prior postmaster apparently was too over worked to put my mail IN the box. He just didn't do it. As I said, when the new postmaster took over I got a foot thick pile of two year old mail.
