And another play on words - this from my English-italian-French speaking husband who struggles with Spanish. We were at a friend's house and her children had two pet ferrets. Our friend is a Mexican who speaks excellent English. With a straight face, Tony asked the mom, ?Los compraste en la ferreteria? Huge blank stare. All of a sudden, she got it and roared with laughter. She congratulated my husband heartily for coming up with the double-entendre.

Given the eccentricities of our phone system out here in beautiful downtown El Chante, I suspect people still say "Bueno?" for the same reason, Quevedo.
