Noche de Ronda in Tlaquepaque

For the next several months, Tlaquepaque is having "noches de ronda" every Friday and Saturday nights: wandering minstrals, Huichol mariachis, mariachis and folk dancers in the square by the church, shops and restaurants open later than usual. Lots of people just strolling around. Fun. Highly recommended.

Sounds great, thanks for posting that. We will be in Guadalajara for the next couple of weeks, and will make a point of visiting the Noche de Ronda.

Any idea what time things start to get going? My guess would be after dark.

Every Friday the Guadalajara newspaper Público publishes a small magazine section called Ocio. 99% of all cultural events in the metropolitan area are listed and/or described in Ocio. I'd imagine that the Noche de Ronda events are in there.

Get out and get the paper early on Friday morning--it's very popular and disappears quickly from newsstands.

You guessed right. Normally, around the plaza by the churches near the Parian about 7 or 8 or so, things start. Look around or ask around for other events.

Thanks, I picked up a copy of Ocio on Friday. We were going to go see Paquita del Barrio on Saturday night, but the concert had been cancelled.

We will wander over to lakeside this week sometime.

Ah, Mexico! Constant changing. The Noche de Ronda in Tlaquepaque is now the second and last weekends of each month. But, still, highly recommended as a fun time.
