seek rental home info in Guad. area also sat/internet info

Hi,

I have my fm-3 visa and will be making the move in 30-45 days. Initially thought about the Tlaquepaque area to find a nice mid-priced rental home, but have not had much luck. Have now expanded to Tonala/Tlaquepaque area since I have been doing business there for years via my website www.mexarte.com. I will be continuing this enterprise there so need to be in that area. Looking for quiet, safe peaceful area near dining, shopping, walking spots. Any agent contacts, R.E companies etc. that do rentals would be great help. Also any info on Sattalite TV and hi speed internet services would be appreciated.....Dennis

Dennis - some of your best sources of information are probably the people you have been doing business with in that area. Try checking with them.

Dennis, last November of 06, I rented a very nice house in one of the nicer parts of Guad, which is very close to El Centro but has a feel of suburbia. Its name is Chapalita. Restaurants, shopping (Walmart) and just about anything you need is close and within walking distance.

We rented a 3-bedroom house, which also had a separate two-story casita (maids quarters, quest house) with very large patios and an immensely large landscaped driveway to the entrance of the house. We loved the place, especially the price and the street it was located on is named Avenida Parque Juan Diego. Take a drive by there before you lock in on where you want to settle and check it out.

I found it looking through the Guad local online newspaper called Informador:

Dennis:
Don't know if it's still available, but when I was in GDL looking for an apartment, I saw a really super apartment in Tlaquepaque. I didn't take it because I'll be teaching at the Universidad Autonoma and it's too far from there, but it was really fabulous. The person who had helped me search was Beatriz de la Graza and she would know the contact if you just say it's the apartment that she and Suzanne saw. Her email address is: beatrizdlg@yahoo.com.

My husband and I will be vacating our 2 bedroom furnished apartment in Guadalajara (near the Ninos Monumentos) at the end of February. It's not in Tlaquepaque, but it is lovely, and the Landlady is wonderful, so if you're interested, send me a pm and I'll give you the details.

Thanks for all of your input. I have made a change in my search. I was thinking of trying to avoid Lakeside to find a more "Mexican" location at maybe lower pricing. For my needs (a quiet more isolated area), I have come to the conclusion that Lakeside is the best oportunity and the pricing in not that much higher. The area I am now focused is San Antonio or other places outside the gated or congested areas. Looking for a rental in the $600 - $700 range. Can be smaller house, hopefully more rustic and not a plain box feel. I have been recommended an agent (Susan Martin) and will be contacting her shortly unless someone comes up with a direct contact for a house in this area. Thanks again....Dennis
