I was interested to read in the 23 december Diario de Yucatan about Calle 62 in Merida, which is being redeveloped as businesses, or bought by foreigners. The article pointed to the area between Calle 41 and 55. The article recounted the story of one family, who sold their house to foreigners, and then regretted it later. The article said that you can spot the ones owned by foreigners, as they have been fixed up. Apparently the old buildings are not being torn down, but remodeled. One of the attractive features of that area is that the lots are generally 150 feet deep, although the width varies. I know that some folks here have bought or are thinking about buying property in Merida; it sounds like there is already a steady flow of foreigners purchasing there.
