Hello,
For the monied beach lover here is a summary of an article about the Riveria Nayarit from the Sol de Zacatecas (OEM chain) of 27 Nov 2007.

More than 600 million dollars invested in the Riviera Nayarit. [Note the discrepancy in figures in the following]
During the year 2007 some 3/4 billion dollars [745 million] have been invested in construction in hotel projects on the Riviera Nayarit with an expected increase in tourists of 5% by the end of this year.
More that one million tourists have visited the Riviera Nayarit so far this year and have left over a half million dollars in the local economy. Of that million tourists roughly half have been from the USA and Canada and the other half from Mexico. The foreign tourists spent roughly $1000 usd per person and the Mexican tourists $600 usd per person.
On the Riviera Nayarit there are presently under construction more than 130 hotel projects, an airport, as well as highways and other infrastructure.
The unexpected explosion in tourism has resulted in the re-opening of the Secretary of Tourism for the state of Nayarit. During the Fox administration, that office had been closed.<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<
