Coming east from Cd. Valles towards Tampico, the road is pretty hilly, winding, and slow for about the first 10 miles. Quite a bit of development, plus quarries, cement plants, and heavy truck traffic. You will then come to the turnoff to Taninul resort/spa, which is on the escarpment going down the the coastal plain. From here, it is pretty straight and flat all the way to Tampico, as I recall, although 2 lane blacktop, of course. There are only a few towns which will slow you down. I don't remember the exact time, but 2 hours should more than do it. You will enter Tampico on its seamiest side - huge, smoke-belching factories, smelly, polluted marshes, and abject poverty. <p>: I am looking for road conditions and aprox driving time from Valles to Tampico on Highway 70.
