I am making up our menaje and wondered if someone could assist with the translation of a few items:

wireless broadband computer router

laptop computer

Power backup system (the kind you plug your computers into so you dont get hit with power blackouts) (suministro electrico??)

This is an odd one - Remote Media player - this is something that allows me to connect to my computer from another room without wires)

If anyone could offer some guidance on these few items, I would greatly appreciate it.

Hello ken and judith,

Rolly will probably respond with accurate translations but here is something which will at least get you by:

wireless broadband computer router ---Connector sin alambre al Internet. (However when I tried to buy one at a computer shop I had to use the term in English.

laptop computer--ordenador portátil. But here in México they usually say Computadora portátil.

Power backup system---I would say Regulador de la luz (Voltage Regulator and let it go at that) otherwise: Sistema de proveer la luz por corto tiempo en caso de falta de la luz.

Remote Media player--Remoto para la computadora (ordenador)

Again, these are not the specific translations but will get you by.

It is very unlikely that anyone reading your menaje is going to have a clue about computer terms, so an exact translation is not all that critical. You can find more computer terms that you could ever want to know here: http://rollybrook.com/computer-words.htm
