THIS IS SUCH AN AMUSING THREAD THAT I JUST HAD TO ADD MY 2 CENTAVOS. I'D PROBABLY STILL PREFER THEM OVER GLASS, BUT WHAT MAKES ME SAY "YUK" ARE THE CHARALES THEY SERVE AT THE MUELLES IN PATZCUARO!!!! OLD, STALE GREASE! I ALSO AGREE WITH SOME POSTERS THAT ORGAN MEAT IS NOT FIT FOR HUMAN CONSUMPTION. CHAMPURRADO IS ALSO ON MY SHORT LIST OF THINGS TO AVOID. I'VE LEARNED TO EAT FISH..FEEESH...SINCE MOVING HERE, BUT THERE ARE STILL A FEW THINGS THAT WON'T PASS MY LIPS, SUCH AS CARACOLES AND RAW OYSTERS. CHICHARRONES TAMPOCO....EEESH!!! MARIANA PS I DIDN'T REALIZE THIS WAS SUCH AN OLD THREAD UNTIL MY REPLY WAS POSTED...BUT I HOPE MORE PEOPLE REVISIT IT...LET'S HAVE SOME FUN! Just remember, Colibri1, that one man's meat is another man's poisson. I agree about the charales. Severl of us have had the unpleasant experience of eating "aporeadillo de charales"; scrambled eggs with charales. Some organ meats are fine with me, such as lengua. I've given up menudo, though, for the most part. I like raw oysters, but I won't eat them in Mexico. I had a horrible illness for two weeks at the end of our first, 1980, trip. We love fish and seafood. We go out more often for seafood than any other restaurant food. I'd never had ceviche with catsup in it, except possibly the tasty ceviche de calamares at Mariscos La Güera, in Pátzcuaro.
I like crisp, freshly cooked chicharrones from time to time, but as far as the sort cooked in salsa, ¡gúacala! I'm not keen on trying iguana meat, especially in tamales, for some reason. (By the way; check your CAPS LOCK key, it seems to be on. Thanks.) Saludos, Anonimo
