The term "good shot" is often used in golf (when appropriate). What is the spanish equivalent to this?

Not having golfed for years and especially not here in México, I can't give you a Spanish equivalent. However, here is a substitute which is always appropriate: ¡Qué bueno! which is probably equivalent to the British: What ho! old chap, but in our slang would be Hey! That's good! The way you say it can be anything from complimentary to sarcastic as when your partner has just sliced into the ocean.

Be prepared to pay some expensive green fees although not so damaging as in the USA. (This from a guy who remembers 25 cent fees on 9 hole courses.)

In the Jalisco area (at least), one often hears, "¡Buena bola!" o "¡Buen tiro!"

Thanks for your response. I dont play often here in Mexico because, as you point out, "resort golf" is expensive here in Mexico and there arn't many public courses.

Thanks for your reply. I have heard "Buena Bola" on the course, unfortunately it is usually said to one of the others in my group.

Ok I have to ask could you just say "tiro bien" for good shot?
Or is it just an other way to skin a cat.

People would understand what you meant, but the correct form is "¡Buen tiro!"

Hi,
I should have mentioned this with my original post..... The time I heard the term "good shot" in spanish, I asked my playing partner what he meant by that and he replied: "Good shot, as in a rifle shot" and he mimicked shooting a rifle. Would that "fit" any of the suggestions that have been posted? Perhaps there are many ways to say this.

Basically, "¡Buen tiro!" = "Good shot!", whatever the context.

It's the same over here in Veracruz. And I'd say that I hear them about the same. Neither seems to be preferred over the other.

With a nod to "spanglish", I have occasionally heard players here referring to a particularly good tee shot as a "drivazo"
