Learning Online

I just wanted to share with you a great new resource for anyone learning Spanish who is, like me, a poor language learner who gets embarrassed speaking and consequently doesn't make enough progress. I'm also an online teacher of English as a foreign language. My students are all over the world but I talk to them in conversation classes every day - they are in their own homes and I'm here in San Miguel de Allende in my home office. I have been so impressed in my 7 years of online teaching at the progress students make, compared to the much slower improvements I've seen in 'real' classrooms over a 25 year career in EFL. So, I've been searching for the same possibility for my own language learning but, until recently, I couldn't find anything. Well, now I have. The website is: http://www.spanishl2.com/ I have been learning for a few weeks with a great teacher called Karol Ramirez, who is in Colombia. She speaks fluent English too and is aware of language differences between Latin America countries. The private classes are $24 (US) for 50 minutes and you need a computer, mic and speakers (or headset is better). You don't leave the house and you can schedule them at your convenience. (They'd also be great for anyone who spends part of the year in another country - you could keep up your Spanish even though you've left Mexico.) You can also arrange for small group classes. You can contact seanmartin@l1and2.com for more information about small group classes as they're not really up and running yet, I think. (P.S. If anyone is looking for another person to make up a group, I'd like to add one to my schedule.) I have absolutely no financial involvement with this company. I just wanted to share the info with everyone in case it's of use to you.
