From the San Diego Union this morning. The article was about security of cargo from Mexico and elsewhere to the US, but mentioned this new port.
Also, I was surprised to find that Manzanillo has 10 times the amount of cargo going through than does Lazaro Cardenas (1.3 million containers to 160 thousand). No wonder the cuota is so crowded all the time.
Plans are under way to develop a megaport at Punta Colonet, 150 miles south of San Diego. The port is expected to be the size of the Los Angeles and Long Beach ports combined.
