Nopal Vendors

Awhile back there was a thread here discussing the benefits of nopal powder in lowering cholesterol. A link was posted, I believe by RexC, to nopaltrade.com. I have been buying nopal from that site since and my cholesterol has been fine. I am in the states, and they ship the nopal from Cuernavaca. They have always been very quick to respond to emails. However, I placed another order several days ago, and haven't received any acknowledgement of the order. I sent a couple of emails, but no response.

Does anybody else do business with nopaltrade.com? Like I say, they have been very quick and responsive in the past, so this delay seems odd. I'm running low on the powder, so I'm a little antsy. If they've gone out of business, I need to look elsewhere. But the website seems to be up and running.

Terry, That probably was me that posted that link for nopal, I have done that in the past.
http://www.enopal.com/
I just tried calling their phone number, (777) 326-0055 and I got a recorded message that the phone was either off the hook, or disconnected.

Today is Saturday, so maybe they are closed today. I will try again next week and post whatever I may be able to find out.

In the meantime, maybe you can find Nopalina brand Linaza plus powder. We bought some in a Mexican food market in Tacoma, Washington last year. It has a bunch of other ingredients besides nopal, psyllium, etc. It is made in the USA and distributed by S. N. E. inc. (whoever they are) telephone (877) 296-6845

Hope you'll excuse my shirt-tailing on this subject...I've been trying to find a Lakeside source for "Red Rice Extract" (sp?). It's allegedly made in China, and is not approved for import into the USA. My paranoid tendencies lead me to believe it has something to do with its' efficacy in providing a natural alternative to Lipitor, without any of Lipitor's negative side effects, in the treatment of high chloresterol levels. Anybody heard of its' availability in the Lake Chapala/Guadalajara area? TIA.

Maybe the problem was Semana Santa, which shuts down lots of businesses for two weeks. The kids finally went back to school today, so try your nopal vendor again. Maybe they're back from the beach by now. Buena suerte.

I agree with Judith about Semana Santa. Nopalina is mostly flaxseed. It is good for you, especially women, but not like pure Nopal for lowering cholestrol and blood sugar.

I just got a response from the nopal vendor. No explanation for the delay. But he ships FedEx so I should have it in a couple of days. I'm glad he's still in the business. My shopping around wasn't encouraging. I did, however, buy a pound of nopal powder from somebody on ebay about an hour before I got his email. So I should have plenty in a few days.

I’m happy to learn that they finally responded. I tried calling them on the phone again today, Monday. I got the same recording that I did on Saturday that the phone was either off the hook, or disconnected.

Thanks to all who replied, publically & privately. Was delighted to find out both Red Yeast Rice/Red Rice Yeast and Inositol Hexanicotinate could be obtained in the USA - I used Puritan's Pride to order it over the internet - talk about convenient! My physician had prescribed Lipitor over a year ago - and I love her; she's a great practitioner - but after I bought it and took it home I looked Lipitor up on the net. Scared the hell out of me. About the same time I came across information that mentioned RYR. Never took the Lipitor, although it does occupy a prominent place in the medicine cabinet: as a reminder to check things out and always get a 2nd opinion.

Hope all who consider this alternative to its' adulterized forms also get a professional opinion re: dosage & efficacy...maybe two...8^). Thanks again. Dutch
