Bus fare discount

I recently travelled by TUFESA bus lines from Guaymas to Mazatlan. The one-way fare is normally about 1000 pesos, but by buying a "prepaid card"-a Tarjeta Prepago I got a discount of 25% and finished up paying 750 pesos.

The card has to be purchased from the local TUFESA office, and a minimum of 500 pesos paid at the time of application.A form has to be filled out-by the agent-and signed by the card holder. Bring your passport for id purposes. Maybe a Tourist Visa will be okay.

The card can be picked up a couple of days later. When buying a ticket, produce the card, pay the fare, and receive the discount right away.

Incidentally, the buses(mostly new Volvos) were very clean, functioning washrooms, reclining seats and right on time. Almost all the official TUFESA stops were very clean, and snacks and coffee available.

Hope this helps.

I agree that TUFESA is a great bus company. You can easily find them online, along with location and phone numbers, etc.
