Drive from Ojinaga to Los Mochis

A recent move to the Terlingua area of Texas has me considering a drive from Ojinaga to Los Mochis. I am in the early stages of research but any comments from some one who has made that trip would be appreciated. I just want to travel Mexico and that looks like the shortest route on the map to the Gulf of California from Texas.

That road over to Hermosillo looks pretty slow to me. Then, you'd be a lot closer to Kino Bay or San Carlos/Guaymas than Los Mochis. Both of those are nice beach towns. Is there a reason to go to Los Mochis? It's not a particularly attractive town. If you're looking for a Pacific beach, you could go down from Chihuahua to Durango and over the Devil's Spine to Mazatlan.

Agree. My immediate reaction was why Los Mochis? It is not really on the ocean, the town is not interesting, and the beaches nearby are not particularly inviting - at least that is my observation from talking to local people in Los Mochis and driving around the coast in the area of Topolobampo.

San Carlos/Guaymas is a much nicer destination as is Mazatlan, if you don't mind tourists, heat, and humidity - present anywhere along the Pacific coast except for the area from TJ to Ensenada.

Thank you both. I just drew a line from Ojinaga to the Gulf of California and I knew that probably was not the best course. Ergo my post. You both gave me good information that I can now start to work with.
