We have stayed at La Villa del Ensueno and found it to be very pleasant. Breakfast was tasty and they provide off street parking behind a locked door. The suites are large and well furnished.

"Quinta Don Jose" is a lovely property just a block or two off the main shopping pedestrian mallway. It is run by a fun couple who have worked very hard to provide a comfortable and beautiful oasis in the city. www.quintadonjose.com 333.3659.9315

We love room 14 at Quinta Don Jose or the master suite off the breakfast patio. The rooms in the main building can be noisy at night. The grounds are beautiful year-round. Don't forget to eat at Rio San Pedro. Yum.

Hi,
What is the rate per night at this or other typical B& Bs? We have done B&Bs in Ireland and parts of Eurpoe but never Mexico.

Tlaquepaque $100 plus or minus. Lakeside $50 - $100. US dollars.

We stayed in the $80 two double beds last time and we will do that again in the near future. It was fine for our needs since we were in town for an evening event and wanted to do some shopping the next day - and we'll do it again.

Yesterday we spent the early evening in Tlaquepaque and will definitely plan a few overnights there just to wander the streets in the late afternoon and early evening. That is the best time, particularly during the warm months. It was 93 degrees when we arrived according to my car thermometer and quickly cooled off and was most pleasant.

We dropped by the Hotel Casa Campos a block off of Calle Independencia to check out the changos. There really are a lot of monkeys climbing around the walls of the lobby area. We were surprised to find that they also allow pets for their guests. I'm likely to take Roxy with us some time, but am not just sure how she will react to the monkeys swarming around. Despite the monkeys, the area where they are is clean and attractive. Someone must spend a lot of time cleaning up monkey droppings.

The rooms in that hotel are small but clean according to people we met who have stayed there and the rack rate prices are in the $800 to $1,000 peso range.

Quinta Don Jose is also pet-friendly. There is a resident dog of uncertain lineage named Chiquita, and a peculiar cat, who looks like a cross between a rabbit and cat, that a drunken guest left behind.. it's named Cabbit, of course. Careful with the cat, Chiquita thinks it is his/her offspring and is very protective!
