Re: [S & C] Jamming of Satellite TV Signals

Several weeks ago, I mentioned an upcoming article about signals to our satellite feeds being jammed. I didn't mean to scare everyone, but somehow rumors started and folks began to believe the worst, especially those who are stealing their signals. It was never my intent to scare the folks, but before you knew it, people began to believe the worst. And of course I didn't help this any when i pointed out that the US and Canada knew of this jamming and were going to do nothing about it. Every spring and fall at this time the satellite dealers are driven mad by fearful or angry clients whose satellite systems fail for periods up to 30 minutes. Why do they fail? Because for a few days in the spring and a few days in the fall, the sun will get directly behind that satellite your satellite dish is pointing at. And the sun submits stronger radio waves than does the satellite your dish is pointing at. So your satellite signals are overwhelmed and you loose your signal until the sun moves on some 5 to 30 minutes later. The sun gets behind those Star Choice and DISH satellites located at 107.3, 110, 111.1, & 119 West early in the afternoon. You have about another week of this. afterwards when the sun passes by the satellite you are pointing at, the sun will be higher. In the winter the sun will be lower as it moves from E to W. However the sun will get exactly behind your satellites again in Oct. So yes there will be satellite delivery interruptions, and yes the US and Canadian Governments are aware of this, and no neither government will attempt to stop the sun jamming our signals for up to 30 minutes per day at its worst for a period of up to 9 days were on the first and last day, the interruption will only be about 5 minutes, and as mentioned above on the middle or worst day the jamming will last almost 30 minutes. "The farther north you go, the earlier this interference occurs in the spring and the later in the fall. In Winnipeg, for example, which is about 50 degrees North latitude, the solar outages take place about ten days earlier in the spring and ten days later during the fall" Sorry if I scared some of you.
