Medical Spanish interpreter course/workshop where?

A friend has asked me about short courses or workshops for interpreters focusing on medical Spanish.

She is at the intermediate Spanish level, but wants to sharpen her skills in this particular area and would like to visit Mexico to do it. Practical encounters with actual doctors/patients would be a plus.

She is thinking around 1-2 weeks in duration, and a program that might be specifically geared to native speakers of English. She indicated a location within a day's bus ride from Mexico City or Guadalajara is preferable.

Any suggestions, tips, ideas?

Hello KH

I know nothing about an INTERPRETER course in Spanish but the Seventh Day Adventist College in Linares, Nuevo León is famous for its short, intensive courses in Spanish at all llevels for people of the Medical profession.

I do not know if they have a WWW presence but I suspect they do as the institution has been operating for decades.

I gave you the link for their health care program, they also have a program specifically designed for nurses as well. Take a look at the general information as well. I can vouch for the quality of the school.

Instituto Chac-Mool in Cuernavaca has a Medical Spanish course. And the student can do volunteer work at a medical clinic, working with doctors and patients. Cuernavaca is just a hour from Mexico City. The school also offers Spanish courses for other professionals as well as general Spanish courses for students of all ages and levels.
