Asentamiento Peligroso

Found that all along MX127 the other day. Took us 4 hours to go 64 miles so it was rough. That which I can find is...

And I noticed that when we got the signs there was either a huge depression in the road (that had recently been paved, but poorly or it depressed again) or a huge chunk of the road (on the side) was missing. Also, we'd get the sign when 1/2 the lane was depressed. I know that "asentar" means to settle, so I'm wondering if it basically means that the road is poorly (dangerously, according to the signs) planed. I just don't understand why the signs were also placed in areas where road chunks were absolutely missing (I assume in advance of the repair; like they knew the repair would be horrid and very not level?).First time we've run into these signs.

My little paperback dictionary doesn't have asentimiento, however, it does translate asentaderas as "buttocks" so that probably explains the peligroso part.

In other words, a thing that should be stable, fixed, or in a state of repose. If the ground and/or the pavement is unstable, the sign means 'dangerous instability'. In this case, the instability is in the roadway itself, due to settling, cracking, or whatever you see that makes the road uneven and dangerous.
