You are required to get an international health certificate of health. No one asked us for it. I'm sure if we try next time to get away without one, we'll get caught.
The hardest part was getting into hotels. Most don't accept dogs. We stopped at this place in Chihuahua that looked perfect. It had garages attached to every room. Perfect for slipping the dog in. I went to the office to register. The counter was filled with condoms which the clerk promply put away. That should have been the give away. I asked the rate and the clerk said $25 for until noon the next day. I asked to see a room. They said ok, but no one took me out to see them. A lot of people we're checking in, but they would do it all throuch the drive up window. I waited and waited until finally the light bulb went on. This was one of those places you rent by the hour. I didn't think our dog would like that, so I left.

many will have a REAL motel in front and the hourly rooms in back, some have guards at the gate, garage is so someone won't recognize your car as they drive by or rent the room next door.
Just a different take on the age old story

Actually we stayed...

...at one with our Golden Retriever. It was ok. A little strange with a hot tub in the bedroom. Everything was glued or nailed down. Ours had gigantic shower curtins over the "garage".
No registering--just drive to the unit of the blinking light.
I believe Jennifer refers to them as "no tell motels".

I would suspect that anywhere there are people with cars there are hot sheet motels. The No-Tell Motel is what we used to call the one in our town.
: many will have a REAL motel in front and the hourly rooms in back, some have guards at the gate, garage is so someone won't recognize your car as they drive by or rent the room next door.
: Just a different take on the age old story

We stay at them occasionally, as a family. They are often located on the outskirts of town on bypass roads, require no credit card or deposit, and you don't have to unpack the car, drag all your stuff inside, then repack in the morning. And my 5 year old thinks the big hot tub in the room is her personal waterpark.

we travel with our own bedclothes

We have our own sheets, blankets, and pillows. When we are on the road we usually sleep in the car one night next to the toll booths on the cuota and the next night in a motel de paso on the Libre , trading off every other night like that.
