I've only looked at the pbase photos so far, but you have a lot of really great photos that really capture the vivid colors of Mexican life! Question: Is Amazonia, Morelia inhabited by Brazilians, or any such thing? The meat in the photo looked by Brazilian churrasco.

Thanks for your comments, Judy.

Amazonia in Morelia is, of course, a Brazilian style rodizio or churrasco restaurant. We were introduced to it in 2004 by Jennifer Rose. We were back there in Sept, 2005. When we tried to eat there this last NYE, it was closed for vacation.

We intend to go there again, but not to have any serious plans for after, as it is VERY much food.

Nearby is the generally excellent seafood restaurant, LangosTiko's, on Avenida Santamaría. Less filling, equally enticing in its own way.
Jennifer Rose will probably know more about Amazonia than I do.

The meat in the picture looked as if it was good "churrasco" style, do you know if any of the other dishes were brazilian style? We have a "brazilian" restaurant here in Ags. The meat is pretty much like Brazil, but the rest of the dishes weren't like anything we ever ate in our ten years in Brazil--nor were they like anything we'd eaten in Mexico. They really weren't even tasty. What a disappointment! We went to a brazilian restaurant in Miami once and it was exactly like being in Brazil. That's what we'd like to find here some day.

Since we've never been to Brazil, I can't say if the meats and other dishes at Restaurant Amazonia are authentic. All I can say is, most of it is very good, and ther's lots of it.

I can't vouch for Amazonias' authenticity, never having been to Brazil, but in the eleven or so years it's been open in Morelia, it's been very successful, always packed with patrons. The owner, Enrnest Hunger, has roots in Brazil. He has hit upon a very good concept, and even though there are clones in town, Amazonias clearly stands head and shoulders above the pack.

1/2 kilo de arroz cocido
1 taza de harino de trigo
2 huevos
1 cucharada de royal
Cebolla picada
Perejil
Sal y pimienta
1 taza de agua

Se mezclan los ingredientes hasta obtener una consistencia vizcosa, mas espesa que un paste, se frie en aceite y se sirve.
