electrical work?

so I've got a great electrician....works hard....but I guess I don't understand why , in changing, adding and removing some lines....why does all the work need to redone? why can't the new be added to the existing? Cause it is so old and poorly done? but it worked!

It may have worked but what condition was it in? When we rewired our house in Sonora, the old wires that they pulled out were horrendous - a mixture of grades of wire, even lamp cord, with shorts evident - no grounding - no real three prong outlets.

If you are rewiring, then we hope you are getting genuine grounded wiring. For an older house this is one of the more important things you can do. I do not believe that your electrician is simply making work but only you will truly know.
