has anyone tried a "green roof" down here? (i.e. a system of drainage, special mixture of dirt and planting, on a flat roof to absorb heat/water, and cool the house)

We have a neighbor who is an agronomist and he is working on a project to build houses and grow spouts on the roofs. The sprouts would be used as an economical feed for sheep/goats(?). I'm not sure about the goats. According to him, Mexico imports much of the mutton that it consumes. He's concerned with creating a more economical way to feed sheep and lessen the imports. He's already begun the construction of one such house in which his laborer will live. It's just two lots away from ours, so I'll keep you posted on any developments.
